English is where confidence matters most — and where structure wins marks.

A student who knows their set text cold can still lose marks if they can't structure an answer, pick the right evidence, or finish the paper in time. Dina teaches a clear, repeatable structure for every question type — from the short Language analysis to the long Literature essay — so your child always knows where to start. For set texts we build a small, flexible bank of quotes that work across many questions. For unseen work we practise a calm method: read, spot the methods, plan, write. Whether your child sits AQA, OCR or Edexcel, lessons use their exact specification, set texts and assessment objectives.

How a lesson runs

Recap, teach, timed practice, feedback

Every weekly lesson follows the same four-part shape.

Step 1

Recap

Revisit last week's marked writing.

Step 2

Teach

A clear structure for that question type.

Step 3

Timed writing

Under a timer, using the structure.

Step 4

Feedback

Marked with written notes within 7 days.

Common mistakes we fix

The slips that quietly cost grades

The mistakes Dina sees again and again — and exactly what lessons put right.

  • Knowing the set text cold but losing marks because the answer has no clear structure.

  • Spending too long on early questions and leaving the big-mark essay unfinished.

  • Memorising hundreds of quotes instead of a small, flexible set that works across questions.

  • Panicking at unseen texts and writing with no method — no reading, no planning.

  • Naming a technique but not explaining its effect — the step that earns analysis marks.
